“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” –Hebrews 12:2
I can do all the laying aside of weights and sins I would like to, but if my eyes are not on Jesus it is all mere behavior modifications. It is self-righteousness. It is prideful to think I can change myself apart from Jesus.
Attitude changes apart from Jesus will make me hopeless the next time I stumble or act out of line with my behavior modifications. I need my eyes fixed on Jesus. I need a desperation and an obsession with looking at Jesus today – the founder and perfecter of my faith.
