Expose

We all know that person. The one who is doing fine every time you talk to them. The one not really struggling with sin. And if they are, it is just the small sins that are manageable.

How often are we the “them”?

We are prone to suppress the reality of our sin. And if we are not denying our sins we are minimizing them. Whether comparing our righteousness or trusting in our moralism, our flesh is always trying to justify and cover our sin.

But if we do not expose our sins and imperfections, we fall into the deadly trap of self-righteousness. It is inescapable.

But with God, all things are possible. God is righteous, gracious, honest, and forgiving. Apart from him, we are none of these – but we do not need to hide this fact with a cloak of self-righteousness.

We trust in and follow the commands of Jesus who is faithful to cleanse us from all our sinful imperfections. We are invited to expose our sin – confessing to God and Christians – in exchange for his freedom.
