Gospel Prayer: God My Help

Posted by

O Lord my God, in you do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me, lest like a lion they tear my soul apart, rending it in pieces, with none to deliver. –Psalm 7:1-2

God, my Father, I thank you that I can call on you and you hear me today. And you answer me. As a child standing behind his daddy’s leg for protection, you are my refuge.

Help me today to see who my pursuers are–the world, flesh, and the devil. As you show me the ways in which they pursue my soul, may I be found in you, hidden in Christ.

Holy Spirit awaken me when I begin to slide into numbness toward my sin, lest like a lion’s prey, my soul is torn apart, rendered into pieces. Help me to be continually aware that the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion seeking to devour.

O God, how great you are and I love you so much because you first loved me.
